Open Call

Electro Studios is excited to present PYLOS, an open call exhibition project focused on the expanded field of ceramics in its many forms. We are looking for all types of ceramics; functional, sculptural, wall-based, big or small. Anything that is made from clay. 

PYLOS is a direct translation of the Greek word “πηλός” (pÄ«lós), which means clay, earth, or mud. The term refers to the material itself, rather than a specific place or product. Selected artists will showcase 1 or 2 ceramics that will be curated in groups showing off and emphasising the varying techniques, skills, shapes and forms in contemporary ceramics today. Highlighting the transformations of clay as a material. 

Location: The exhibition will be held at Electro Studios Project Space, Seaside Rd, St Leonards On Sea, TN38 0AL 

Important Dates:

  • Artists will be informed by Monday 27th October whether their applications are successful.
  • PV: Friday 7th November 6pm – 9pm 
  • OPEN: Sat/Sun 8th/9th & 15th/16th November 12pm – 5pm each day 
  • Group meet + greet: Sunday 16th November from 2pm – 5pm

Along with these dates please be aware that if your work is selected for the exhibition you must be able to drop off your work and pick up your work on these dates:

  • DROP OFF: Thursday 6th November 11am – 4pm or Friday 7th November 10am – 12pm
  • PICK UP: From 5pm on Sunday 16th November or Monday 17th November 11am – 4pm 

Fees: This open call is completely free to apply to. If your work is selected there is a £10 handling fee to contribute towards the costs of the exhibition. If you are unable to pay this fee at this time for any reason do let us know in the Extra comments or questions section of the application form below. 

Sales: Artists are responsible for all sales made at the exhibition and Electro Studios will not take any commission from sales made. We will collate a price list for the show and have it available to visitors with each artists’ contact details.
